REST-Salt Challenge

Here's the SALT challenge this week!

Good evening or good morning to you depending on where you are in the world! Thanks to all those lovely people who left us a comment for the last challenge! This week the topic I have chosen is rest. Now I am not just talking about the physical act of rest (although that is something I do enjoy LOL!). Jesus talks about rest in Matthew 11:28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Now in those days, young men were given the chance to take on the yoke of a Rabbi. This meant that if they proved themselves worthy, they could study from this Rabbi and almost mirror his life. They had to do this 'til they were 30yrs old. At this time, they could start their own ministry. This was a really huge, all consuming task which was a heavy burden to carry. What Jesus is saying is that we can take on his yoke and will not burden us. He promises to give us rest from all our seeking and srtiving to be acceptable. That's the bit I think is cool. So often I find myself striving so hard and have not even asked God to walk with me through it. When I consciously walk through things with God, it is then that experience the REST he is talking about. It is a rest or peace in my heart, even amidst chaos. My prayer is that you too may experience this rest. Please join with us this week in creating something to share. Don't forget to leave us a comment so we can share it with you. Blessings, Casey
For this challenge, I have used the new Scripture by Design "Beloved" digi kit. It's available from Heaven-Sent.

This week at SALT, Ruth has chosen the topic of Prayer.

What an awesome topic :-)

This is what Ruth had to share with us.

"Prayer is the life line of a Christian, the powerhouse of the church, essential to growing in faith and relationship with the Lord.
As a busy mum it is easy to get through the day and have not bended my knee in prayer to the Lord. Throwing up prayers whilst washing up or walking to school sometimes has to be my lifeline and one aspect of praying continually.
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.I Thessalonians 5:16-18
However I think this verse implies more, that we are not to give up praying. It's not a one off act, it should be part of every day of the rest of our lives.

Please make a project that might help you to pray or be a response to meditating on this theme. "

I have made a book mark for this one.

Although, it may be a bit chunky for a bookmark LOL!

I loved using OPALS on this one as well as Kaisercraft paper, Heidi Swapp bookplate, trimmings brads and cardstock.

Blessings,

Casey

SALT- He knows us inside out!

This week at SALT, Lythan has chosen my most favourite Psalm...# 139.

The title of the challenge is 'He knows us inside out'

Praise be to Him that He does know us inside and out :-)

As a young girl, before I knew Jesus, I used to wonder if there was ever going to be anyone who would really know everything about me.

I'm glad that God knows me that well and also our children.

I made this little treasure tin for my nephew who was born 3 weeks ago. On the reverse side of one of the cards, I have stamped a Scripture by Design stamp "I praise you because of the wonderful way you made me" which is just a short part of that wonderful Psalm.

Blessings,

Casey

Salt challenge- Obedience

This week at SALT we are looking at the topic of obedience. I know when some people hear this word, they probably think Obedience in terms of being a Christian, means following a big set of rules. Certainly in the old testament, the people were given the Ten commandments for Holy living. Praise the Lord that He sent Jesus to be the perfect fullfilment of these laws. Now the obedience that God calls for is an obedience in our hearts to His spirit and to His will. Obedience then is not a chore...it's a pleasure with many blessings along the way!
For this layout I have used the 'Bittersweet' kit from Dahlia Co designs and also a Frame from Dawn in the Scrap of Faith Collaboration kit 'Lessons'

I pray that you may be blessed as you journey with God with an obedient heart

SALT challenge - God's good creation

This week Hazel has set the challenge :-)

This time I (Hazel) have chosen the theme of
'And God saw that it was good'
This is a reflection on Genesis 1, which gives an account of God's marvellous work of Creation and His reflection on it was that He 'saw that it was good'.As we celebrate our first birthday, it seems fitting to reflect upon the beauty of God's Creation.I marvel at the wonders of God's beautiful world - so much for us to enjoy, whether it's a sunset, the petals of a flower, the intricate design of a seashell ... I could go on to name so many examples, including, of course, the wonderful gift of life itself to us as humans. This is such a wide topic - you may wish to reflect on one particular aspect of God's Creation or the general scope of it.

Here is a card I made for our friends who had a baby last night. Inside the verse says "God saw all that He had made, and it was very good" I'm sure when He looks at this little girl, Neve, He would be thinking just how great this little girl (His creation) is!

Blessings,

Casey

PATIENCE

Hello again! I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since my last blog entry...my how time flies when you don't want it to!

Anyway, this week Esther from SALT has set the challenge of Patience. This is what Esther had to say to us:

PATIENCE
A continuous life lesson, that I am struggling to learn!
There is so much to learn; PATIENCE as a fruit of the Holy Spirit,
waiting PATIENTLY in the Lord
How the Lord is PATIENT with us!
How we should be PATIENT with others
My inspiration came from a daily devotional page that my friend gave to me, it was very reassuring and talked of resting in God and waiting patiently in him Psalm 37:7, I will quote some of what it says "there are things you cant have today that you'll be able to have in the future. So it doesnt make sense to drive yourself crazy and put your life on hold struggling to accomplish something now that'll be easy when the time is right...." "God allows certain things to take place in our lives to teach us important principles...." "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans12:12 when you spend time in God's waiting room, He's developing qualities in you that simply can't be deceloped any other way.
When He's finished you will come out stronger and wiser..."

The verse "Be still and know that I am God" is a verse that sums patience up for me. When I read it I remember that God is in control!
Pop on over to SALT and join in with us. I personally feel encouraged and inspired when others join in on the challenge!

Salt Challenge -Walk in Love

Here's this weeks challenge:

For this week's challenge I (Kimberly White) have chosen Walking in Love. There is so much that God has said to us in his Word about Love. God is Love. Faith works by love. The greatest commandment given to us by Jesus is to love.

I have made a little 'pass it on' card for a friend at work who is really needing assurance that she is loved by the most high God right now!!!
On this card I have used our latest and greatest Clear Acrylic Christian Stamps- pop on over to the store and check them out! http://www.scripturebydesign.com.au.

I have also used MM 'noteworthy' range ledger paper, American Crafts felt tags and Kaisercraft rhinestones.

Contentment

This week at SALT, it's Hazel's turn to set the challenge. She has chosen the awesome topic of CONTENTMENT.

My take on the challenge is for my daughter. It is a huge prayer of mine, that she may be content in Christ and His sufficiency in her life. That she would resist the tempatations of this world and not be defined by them, but by the love Jesus has for her!

Be sure to check out the girls work at SALT this week. We'd LOVE you to join in. It always encourages us and we hope and pray that we would be an encouragement to you too!

His Presence

This week at Salt it was Gillian's turn to set the challenge. She has chosen "His Presence"

What does God's presence mean to you? Does it mean Comfort in time of loss, Strength when you face a battle, Reassurance that you Walk the Good Walk...
or is it something you need to accept,is it something you want to be more open too?
Joshua 1:5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life.

As I was with Moses, so I will be with you;
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
there are many other verses that speak of God's presence in our lives here are a few.
Matthew 18:20, John 6:37, Romans 8:38-39

Up until recently in my Christian walk, God's presence was something that I don't know if I fully understood or felt totally comfortable with. Now I crave it and find my spirit and mind in a continual dialogue with God, constantly feeling His reassurance.

Probably sounds a bit of a weird way of trying to explain it, but I love hanging out with my God and knowing His presence. How about you?

Believe & Jeremiah 29:11

This week at SALT it is Esther's turn to set the challenge. She has chosen "Believe" as the main theme. But she also wanted us to focus on a verse that has been really important to her Jeremiah 29:11-13.

I have decided to go with the Jeremiah verse for my piece. I know that my layout says 'trust' instead of believe. But I guess I believe I can trust my God with everything..including my furture plans which is what this LO is about.

Right now my family and I have been making huge decisions that can seem daunting and exciting at the same time. I am so stoked that I don't have to worry about them. My Heavenly Father has it sorted. He just wants me to believe and trust Him with it!

In this LO I have used some nice EK success paper (it's embossed..although you can't tell from this picture), a Scripture by Design transparency and a Fancy Pants Journaling card.

Blessings,

Casey

This fortnight at SALT, I (Casey) want you all to think about and maybe create a piece of art that conveys a message of being His princess! When I first heard that term (HIS PRINCESS) I thought it sounded a bit over the top...but then after reading the Bible and listening to other messages, I realised that we are daughters of THE King.

So, daughters of a King are referred to as princesses.

So, how does it feel for you to be His Princess?

Here's a card I made for my friend's daughter Paris, for her birthday.

It's great to let the next generation know that God cherishes them!

Blessings,

Casey

God's outstanding grace

This week at SALT it is Kim's turn to set the challenge. She has chosen the awesome topic of God's grace.

God provides us with a measure of grace each and every day, to face hardships, to grant us patience and forgiveness, to strengthen us in a time of temptation....but most importantly God's grace delivers us from the bondage of our sins by enabling us to trust in Christ as Savior.

I am only just starting to understand what that word really means (and I've been a Christian for 10yrs!). I am sure that there are many people out there, including committed Christians who have not fully grasped what it means to be saved by grace. It has been a huge change for me in my thinking and my love for Jesus has grown stronger.

Here's a few things I jotted down on my layout about what Grace means for me.

I'd be really encouraged to see your take on the challenge!

In this layout I've used Creative Imaginations Narratives paper, Bazzill cardstock, Scripture by Design Journaling card, Basic grey,Bella and MM alphas and a big photo of ME!!!
Blessings,

Casey

Encouragement

I am a huge fan of encouragement...how about you?

Even a little bit goes a long way for me.

This week at salt it was Hazel's turn to set the challenge:

Here on Salt we have been very encouraged by your comments and by the wonderful creations that you have shown us as together we have combined our faith and our love of crafting.I love that verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:11: 'Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.' - in fact, there is so much about encouragement in those letters, and indeed, in other letters from Paul. Encouragement is such a blessing to receive and also to give.

SO I decided to make a card for my friend Rach. Although we now live 6 hrs from each other, she is always a source of encouragement to me!

Where your treasure is...

Gillian has set the challenge this week at SALT.

The verse we have been inspired by is
"For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also." Mat 6:21

Here's a card I put together using piece of a printed transparency (with the verse on it) that we make at Scripture by Design

John 3:16

Can you imagine the pain and anguish of giving up your firstborn so that people (many of whom don't know you and some who hate you) could have forgivness of sins and eternal life?

That's what the verse John 3:16 is all about. This week at SALT, we've had a go at constructing a project that includes this verse or in some way represents it.

I made this set of nine inchies for my friend Jo for Christmas.

It's my first attempt at inchies and I had alot of fun!
Don't forget to pop on over to the SALT blog and
have a peek at the other girl's work.

Blessings,

Casey

Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas

It is my turn to set the challenge this week at SALT. This time it is

Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas.

So, all my life I have wanted an Advent calender. What does that have to do with Jesus??? Well, I made this one for my children and...

In each of the drawers they will find either part of a Bible verse which we stick on the fridge and make the complete verse, or they find some other little treasure. They love it and look forward to opening the drawers each day!

Blessings, Casey

Salt Bi-weekly challenge

OOPS! Almost forgot to post my contribution for the Salt- Bi Weekly Challenge onto my own blog!!!

The theme this time was light.

So many times, Jesus and His children are referred to as the LIGHT in this dark world.

So, in keeping with this theme, I made these itty bitty keyrings for the group of yr12 students we farewelled from our school at their formal the other night. These were for the girls in particular because they were the ones with whom I had the most contact. They are a special bunch and I will really miss them.

Don't forget to pop on over to SALT and check out what the other ladies have come up with!

Blessings,

Casey

Salt Bi-weekly challenge

Here's our latest challenge for you all to have ago at!

"And I (Lythan) would like you to carry on singing through this week's challenge
From the hymnbook...take your inspiration from a hymn or song that means
a lot for your faith
Old hymn, new song, overtly Christian or kind of hidden, God speaks to us in music in all sorts of ways.I can't wait to see your response!"
So, I was looking at this photo of my girl and her cousin and thought to myself how amazing our creator God is and that He is the giver of life. He takes so much care in creating us all so individually.

Blessings,

Casey

The Challenge this week at SALT:

This week's theme is
JESUS IS LORD! I (Kimberly) chose this because this is the start of our journey with God, acknowledging Jesus as our Lord and becoming born again! The wonderful thing is that it is so easy to join God's kingdom!

If you confess with your mouth, JESUS IS LORD and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10

So, here's a little table tidy I made for my niece Eloise- I have written a verse on it for her so this truth may be available for her to read over and over!
For this project I have used some KaiserCraft paper and wooden table tidy. I've also added a little bit of KaiserCraft bling and some ric rac.

Blessings,

Casey x
