John 3:16

Can you imagine the pain and anguish of giving up your firstborn so that people (many of whom don't know you and some who hate you) could have forgivness of sins and eternal life?

That's what the verse John 3:16 is all about. This week at SALT, we've had a go at constructing a project that includes this verse or in some way represents it.

I made this set of nine inchies for my friend Jo for Christmas.

It's my first attempt at inchies and I had alot of fun!
Don't forget to pop on over to the SALT blog and
have a peek at the other girl's work.

Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas

It is my turn to set the challenge this week at SALT. This time it is

Jesus, the true meaning of Christmas.

So, all my life I have wanted an Advent calender. What does that have to do with Jesus??? Well, I made this one for my children and...

In each of the drawers they will find either part of a Bible verse which we stick on the fridge and make the complete verse, or they find some other little treasure. They love it and look forward to opening the drawers each day!

Blessings, Casey

Salt Bi-weekly challenge

OOPS! Almost forgot to post my contribution for the Salt- Bi Weekly Challenge onto my own blog!!!

The theme this time was light.

So many times, Jesus and His children are referred to as the LIGHT in this dark world.

So, in keeping with this theme, I made these itty bitty keyrings for the group of yr12 students we farewelled from our school at their formal the other night. These were for the girls in particular because they were the ones with whom I had the most contact. They are a special bunch and I will really miss them.

Don't forget to pop on over to SALT and check out what the other ladies have come up with!

Casey

Salt Bi-weekly challenge

Here's our latest challenge for you all to have ago at!

"And I (Lythan) would like you to carry on singing through this week's challenge
From the hymnbook...take your inspiration from a hymn or song that means
a lot for your faith
Old hymn, new song, overtly Christian or kind of hidden, God speaks to us in music in all sorts of ways.I can't wait to see your response!"
So, I was looking at this photo of my girl and her cousin and thought to myself how amazing our creator God is and that He is the giver of life. He takes so much care in creating us all so individually.

Blessings,

Casey

The Challenge this week at SALT:

This week's theme is
JESUS IS LORD! I (Kimberly) chose this because this is the start of our journey with God, acknowledging Jesus as our Lord and becoming born again! The wonderful thing is that it is so easy to join God's kingdom!

If you confess with your mouth, JESUS IS LORD and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10

So, here's a little table tidy I made for my niece Eloise- I have written a verse on it for her so this truth may be available for her to read over and over!
For this project I have used some KaiserCraft paper and wooden table tidy. I've also added a little bit of KaiserCraft bling and some ric rac.

SALT Challenge

Unreal...It's time again for our fortnightly challenge at SALT...

Gillian here and it's my turn to set the challenge this week and I've chosen
God's Promises.
So many times we are guilty of breaking promises,
or have been on the other end of a broken promise,
but what a wonderful blessing to know
that when God makes a promise it's steadfast.
We'd love to see what Promise from God you choose to use as your basis for your challenge
so leave us a comment when you are finished your piece,
so that we and others may see your work.To get you inspired the Design Team have come up with some beautiful pieces.

So..here's what I came up with. I captured this image of my husband and children at the beach the other day and then put it together with one of my favourite promises of God on a canvas. It now has pride of place on the mantle over our fire place.
P.S....the little tile down the bottom is one of our new Handstamped Tiles in our range...I have grunged it up a bit to suit the L.O.

Water water everywhere!

This week at SALT it's Esther's turn to set the challenge!

'WATER'
Water is such an important element in our lives, we can't live without it, just like our Lord and Saviour! It appears in so many places in the Bible, more than I realised. Here are a few examples to get you thinking, Noah and the flood, Jesus' 1st miracle; water into wine, calming of the sea, walking on water, baptisms, fishing, washing/cleansing, rivers, pools etc.

I decided to do one of those "pass it on" type encouragement cards. I got this photo from the web. For me, water is something that cleanses and refreshes.

Life to the full!

This week it was my turn to set the challenge at SALT!

I chose "Life to the Full" It is inspired by John 10:10b where Jesus says "..I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."

I think that sometimes people think that being a Christian is about following rules and living a boring life. In fact quite the opposite is true. As a Christian I feel more alive than I ever have before and more free to be the woman Christ has made me to be. The greatest treasure in the whole world is peace with God. Having that makes me feel like I am living life to the full!

ANNOUNCING........

Here is the announcement you've all been waiting for!

Salt is a new creative arts challenge blog.
We are a diverse group of card makers, scrappers and altered art fans from across the world who have been brought together through our love of Jesus Christ and our desire to express our faith in creative ways.

The first challenge is given by Lythan. It's ...
Praise.
Express your praise to God in whatever way you choose.Praise is such a wonderful word. We give praise to people - especially children when they have done something that makes us proud and pleases us. We give praise to God because he has done everything for us and we are proud to be his children.I think the team have come up with the most amazing selection of delights.

Sooo...pop on over to SALT now and have a squizz!

Here's my interpretation.

I made this canvas for my niece who was born one week ago today. It is now hanging in her room. I pray that she may know this to be the truth for her whole life!

What a Gift!

Check out this funky new Bible I got for my birthday from my home group!

I love the colour, texture etc. But what I love most of all is that it is a new living translation. I reckon it's great to read a different translation sometimes.
I love reading it to rediscover old passages in a new way! Praise God!
Oh...by the way, if PRAISE is a word that is one your heart this week...you might want to watch this space for an encouraging new challenge blog that you can contribute to with your art!
Stay tuned!

Casey

DCM Numbers

Awesome...a dare using numbers. My friends just bought their very first house and I wanted to make them a card!

You'll notice that there's a bit of denim on this card

(some is reversed and some the normal way).

The other day, my friend Gillian gave me a little bag with some of this denim in it. It was just what I needed to create this card for my friends! Thanks Gill!

DCM Faux

When you are stretched for time or even a bit tired and you just need a little creative fix, what better place to go than Daring Card Makers. Over at their clever blog, they have great little challenges twice a week!

This week's little extra was "Faux". L.O.L...So, I thought I'd give the faux a go!!!

The "faux" piece on this is the buckle. It's actually a soft drink can ring pull that has been done in 'opals'. Looks cool hey?! Not sure what colour this card looks like on your screen but is actually a beautiful eggplant colour (my favourite), combined with another 'faux' piece that is actually a piece of paper that has been made to look like a belt.

I believe our daughter is a miracle from God.

I've also embossed another little flower at the bottom.

DCM "SEE THROUGH"

Oh goody..time for another DCM dare! This time I get to
use one of

Scripture by Design's products -A stitched vellum verse!

The flower beside the verse is one that I found pressed in a 15yr old diary that it was time to get rid of. So, this card, made for my new niece is a bit sentimental!!! The verse reads that He has made everything beautiful in it's time. Just look at that flower...It's beautiful! My niece is beautiful and God has changed me sooooooo much in the last 15yrs, since I pressed that flower.

Now...onto other things. Just to let you know, I am currently doing a 2week teaching block in a local k-12 school. I've got a bunch of 12-14yr old crafty chicks together and they are keen to have a go at the dare. So...keep an eye out next week for any new names on the DCM comments page!

How Fun!

DCM Dare- "From Scratch"

A dare where you have to make all the bits and pieces from scratch?? Woohoo what a cool dare! L.O.L....Designing and making embellishments is what I do at Scripture by Design
Although, in saying all that, there aren't a heap of embellishments on this card. There is the stitched belt/ribbon, the handstamped wax seal and the photo of course! (I had fun making them though!!)
This card is for my very dear friend Jo. We have a great friendship. If I tried to describe it to you, my words would not do it justice.
I am very thankful to God for her!

DCM Little Extra-recipe!

I think it's cool when you look at a recipe and think to yourself....Yep, I've got all those ingredients!

So when DCM posted their little extra with a simple recipe to follow...I thought I'd see if I could achieve it!

The colours are fairly sombre and classic. But I like to make my cards with the recipient in mind. So, I think this will suit the person I have chosen.

DCM "WINGS"

Ohhh, I couldn't help but get involved in this week's dare at
Daring Card Makers. The theme is Wings.
Thinking about what I could do kept
me amused for a good hour or three L.O.L!!

Anyway, I thought I would do another kids card and use some words from a Colin Buchanan song. I had a look at a site with free clipart and found this most appropriate picture! Can't say it is my usual style. But, you know what??? I had SOOO much fun making it and walking around singing the song all day!!! And that's the whole point I reckon :)

Time for camp Elim!!!

Here goes....my first ever ATC for my first Scrapbooking Weekend away at camp Elim. It's this weekend :) Can't wait!

Friday, February 09, 2007

OK, so here goes my very first attempt at a dare by the Daring Card makers. I can't remember the exact wording but I remember it had to be a lovey dovey card. So, this is as gushy as it gets for me. This is actaully a birthday card for my husband's birthday tomorrow. It features some of the words to a song by his favourite artist -James Taylor.

Saturday, February 03, 2007

Ok, so I finally succumbed to the desire to spend time creating a card. After looking at the Daring Card Makers cards for so long, this is what I came up with for a friend's birthday. You know what.......? I actually quite enjoyed making it ! L.O.L!
